Read Alan Christie his story!

Let us introduce you to our #meetthemembers special. In this special, we are interviewing members of our club, so that you can get to know each other a bit better. Today, Alan Christie founder of The Riviera Golf Guy, tells us about his life and work in the region. Alan has lived on the French Riviera for a couple of years now and he loves it.

What brought you to the French Riviera? How long have you been here?

My wife and I have been coming on vacation to the South of France for the past few years. We fell in love with the area and the way of life and moved to Vence in March 2019.

Why did you decide to start your business?

I decided to start The Riviera Golf Guy because well… I am passionate about golf. I grew up in Scotland where golf is like a national sport and I’ve always been pretty good at it. I wanted to share my passion with others and decided to create ‘Golf Weeks’.

What does your company do?

The idea behind the ‘Golf Weeks’ is to regroup 30 to 40 people who want to come to the French Riviera to play golf and enjoy life. A few weeks of fun during the months of April, May, October and November. Great golf is year round on the Côte d’Azur! A fully catered service with accommodations at my villa in Saint Paul de Vence (accommodates 22 people), a private chef for delicious meals, golf outings in unbelievable settings and other fun activities to discover the area.

What makes your business stand out?

The Riviera Golf Guy is more than the Golf Weeks, it is also the story of a guy who loves playing golf and gets to do it in unbelievable settings. I share about my life on the Côte d’Azur but also highlight beautiful golf courses in the area and share some golfing tips. I’m also working on a regular video channel to share even more.

Do you have any special offers for Business Club members?

Yes, I offer a 25% discount off the ‘Golf Weeks’ for all Business Club members.

Why did you decide to become a member of Business Club Côte d’Azur? What do you like most about it?

Honestly… because my wife dragged me along at first. But I am so glad that I did! I only got the chance to go to the last meetup in Vence. I had a great time and ran into some friends who we weren’t expecting to see there. Business Club Cote d’Azur is such a great concept.

What is your favourite French wine?

Definitely rosé, for any season! Some of my favourites are Minuty prestige, Domaine Ott and Whispering Angel.

What is your favourite spot on the Côte d’Azur?

At the back of the fifth green at the Monte Carlo Golf Club. The view from there is breathtaking, you can see all of Monaco and the Mediterranean sea. My wife’s favourite place is on the terrace of la Chèvre d’Or in Eze.

What French word do you find very difficult to pronounce?

All of them! But if I had to choose one I would probably say “yaourt” which means yogurt.

What is your favourite French expression?

“La vie est belle”. Because life truly is beautiful…
