In this series, we are interviewing members of our club, so that you can get to know each other a bit better. Today we talk with Antoine Dutauziet about his life and work in the region.

What brought you to the French Riviera? How long have you been here?

I am French and Swedish and I grew up in the Paris region. Finally settled in Nice in February 2022.

I’ve been coming to Antibes for over 20 years on holidays as my mother used to live there. Now she lives in Golfe Juan since 2 years.

After having lived for 5 years in Thailand and 2 years in Peru, I wanted to be a bit closer to my family and my French roots again 🙂

Could you tell us about your professional career? What do or did you do for work?

10 years ago I was working for Amazon in Paris as a salesman.

On paper I was a success, but still something was missing in my life, and my colleagues were starting to burn out.

So I gave in my resignation and took a 1 way ticket to Bali. After 3 months, I found myself on a beach in Thailand where I met my mentor and his wife in a holistic retreat center.

This changed my life for the better.

I eventually settled to Thailand and started a deep inner work as well as training in meditation, yoga, personal development, coaching etc.

Today I am a holistic health coach bridging the world of business where I come from with more health, balance and meaning.

What does the company that you work for do?

I organise workshops against burnout, stress, sleeping problems for managers and their teams of up to 15 employees at a time. Mostly international companies (I coach in French, English, Spanish and Swedish!).

I share practical tools regarding breath, hydration, nutrition, body posture and sleep. As well as an emotional release protocol and various tools for the mind to break thru limiting beliefs. We also work on managing their time better and help my clients create the life they want so they can thrive. Private 1-on-1 coaching online is also not a problem!

Why did you decide to start your own business?

I am proudly self-employed and this gives me the freedom to share my personal coaching tools whilst being able to choose the clients I work with. Never would I want to give this privilege away!

What would be your best advice to others thinking about living or working on the French Riviera?

Well, my best advice would be to join the Business Club Côte d’Azur! Seriously, this community is open minded, supportive and an excellent English speaking base to create valuable professional and personal connections.

I would also advise to come with some patience. As the French way of doing things, especially French bureaucracy, may be discouraging for someone used to a more efficient system.

But that’s part of the package… you can’t get exceptional weather year round and the best food in the world while expecting French bureaucracy to move fast, can you?!

Fun facts about Antoine Dutauziet!

Since when do you live on the French Riviera?

Since February 2022

Where are you originally from?

From Saint-Germain-en-Laye, West of Paris. I’m French and Swedish.

What is your favourite wine?

Gewurztraminer! I’m a big Foie Gras fan you see…

What is your favourite spot on the French Riviera?

I love walking by the ramparts of Antibes, the view is stunning!

What French word, expression or sentence do you find very difficult to pronounce?

I won’t cheat on this one… I’m half French 😉
