In this series, we are interviewing members of our club, so that you can get to know each other a bit better. Today we talk with Juliette Frezouls about her life and work in the region.

What brought you to the French Riviera?

My great grand-parents emigrated from Italy to Cannes so I spent summers here since I was born but have lived here 3 years in total.

Could you tell us about your professional career? What do or did you do for work?

After working many years in hospitality and recruitment, I found a passion for fitness and spent a few years studying strength training and nutrition.

I decided to launch my online coaching services for women looking to build strength and improve their health and physique.

Why did you decide to start your own business?

After spending years in an office environment I realised that sitting at a desk all day was really taking its toll.

Prioritising our health by staying active is vital, not just for our physical well-being, but also for mental clarity in both our personal and professional spheres.

After years in the gym, I realised that a lot of women find it intimidating, feel overwhelmed with all the conflicting information out there. It’s easy to get caught up in all these fad diets that aren’t sustainable don’t deliver lasting results.

I want to simplify things so women can integrate fitness into their lifestyle, without spending hours working out and still enjoying their croissant ( and wine!).

What would be your best advice to others thinking about living or working on the French Riviera?

Outside of big cities, I find France to be a difficult place to make connections as an expat so you really have to put in the work to not feel isolated.

I think learning French makes the experience more enjoyable, and when you have to deal with administrative tasks, well erm, take a deep breath and don’t try to understand why, lol.

Could you share your thoughts on the club and events?

The group is such a wealth of information and so supportive. The events are perfect for making connections and building friendships, it’s very casual but a great opportunity to meet local professionals.

Fun facts about Juliette Frezouls!

Since when do you live on the French Riviera?

We moved here before Covid and I spend my time between Vendée and Cannes but am settling down here more permanently this year.

Where are you originally from?

I was born and grew up in Hong Kong but I lived in Dubai, Tahiti, Thailand and Macau, known as the Las Vegas of China.

What languages do you speak?

French, English, Spanish, Cantonese and Mandarin

What is your favourite wine?

If I only had to pick one maybe a Blanc de Blanc Champagne but I love Rosé, in whites Sancerre and Chablis and in reds Bourgueil or Burgundy wines.

What is your favourite spot on the French Riviera?

I don’t have a favourite spot but I love to walk along all the dramatic seascapes the coast offers, such as the Cap d’Antibes.

What French word do you find difficult to pronounce?

Probably not a word used everyday but “ostéoporose”.

What else would you like to share with the reader?

Fun fact: my grand-father took the role of head chef at the Hotel de Paris before WW2 until the 1960s.

He orchestrated the wedding banquet of Prince Rainier and Grace Kelly as well as the baptism banquets for the Prince and Princesses. Winston Churchill, Salvador Dali and Marcel Pagnol were amongst some of the personalities who savoured his cuisine.
