In this series, we are interviewing members of our club, so that you can get to know each other a bit better. Today we talk with Michael Lenora about his life and work in the region.

What brought you to the French Riviera?

We bought our house around 8 years ago. I was planning on retirement in 2016 and since we cannot tolerate the summer heat in Austin, Texas (40 at times and consistently over 37) we elected to go somewhere more temperate – the Riviera was the answer for us.

Could you tell us about your professional career? What do or did you do for work?

I was in Retail Banking, specifically credit cards such as Mastercard and Visa. The last ten years of my career was spent as the MD of Vanquis Bank, a retail bank centred in the City of London. This is a consumer bank serving the UK retail market, focussing on credit card issuance to individuals.

Could you share your thoughts on the club and events?

I have not attended any events yet but am looking forward to this upcoming summer. I read about the Club through social media advertising, so I don’t know any current or past members, but I thought it would be a good idea to give it a try.

What is your best advice to others thinking about living or working on the French Riviera?

We mainly spend the summers there, and as mentioned I don’t work there (am retired) so it wouldn’t be a good idea to dispense a lot of advice on those topics.
