In this series, we are interviewing members of our club, so that you can get to know each other a bit better. Today we talk with Nick Boot about his life and work in the region.

What brought you to the French Riviera? How long have you been here?

Sunshine!!

My wife and I, along with our baby boy moved to the South of France in 2015 in search of a new adventure and to experience a different culture, particularly one with more sun than London where we’re from.

Almost 8 years and we’ve not looked back.

Could you tell us about your professional career? What do or did you do for work?

I own and run Wildfire DJs, which was launched when we arrived in France.

We provide British DJs, speakers, lighting and photo booths for weddings, private parties and corporate events across the South of France and Northern Italy.

I also still do a bit of DJing myself but most of my time is now spent running the business.

Why did you decide to start your own business?

I always loved DJing but it was just a hobby when I lived in London.

When we decided to change our lives I decided I would work full-time on my passion so launched the business.

I quickly saw that there was a gap in the market for a reliable, professional and approachable DJ service, particularly a native English speaking one, so the company has been designed to fill that need.

What would be your best advice to others thinking about living or working on the French Riviera?

Go for it! The region is stunning with so much to see and do.

Launching a business in France is tough but if you get out there and network there is so much opportunity in the region if you’re hard-working and professional.

Too many suppliers down here aren’t like that so you can muscle in on a market just by responding quickly and professionally, then delivering on your promises.

What else would you like to share with the reader?

If you want to have the best party that all your guests will remember then give me a shout and we can make it happen.

All our DJs are open-format which means they are experienced in playing all genres of music, mixed seamlessly and creatively to get your dance floor jumping.

We also do background music for corporate events and can manage all your sound and lighting needs too.
