In this special series, we are interviewing members of our club, so that you can get to know each other a bit better. Today we talk with Nicolas Coullette about his life and work in the region.
Nicolas has lived on the French Riviera for two years. And he is the owner and founder of A Votre Service.
What brought you to the French Riviera? How long have you been here?
After working for Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) in Yemen and Central African Republic, the time had come to settle back down in France. So, two years ago I decided to move to the French Riviera to enjoy the wonderful weather, nature, culture, activities and to launch “A Votre Service Riviera”, my business.
Why did you decide to start your business?
I spent many years in the corporate and associative worlds. When I had the possibility to start my own business, I jumped on it. I saw it as an exciting challenge and I especially wanted to keep carrying the values that I believe in.
What does your company do?
A Votre Service Riviera specialises in all aspects of French administration. Our services include :
– Applying for residence permits and nationalisation
– Registering to the French national health system and obtaining the Carte Vitale
– Setting up the micro-entreprise (self-employment)
– Setting up and managing your insurances, internet, telephone, electricity and gas subscriptions
– Paralegal services including dispute resolution, landlord/tenant, purchase refunds and compensation
What makes your business stand out?
First, our knowledge of the French system and the different rules and exceptions. I acquired all of this while working as a social worker. Second, our network as we work with different administrations such as the Town Hall of Nice and the Métropole Nice Côte d’Azur. Third, the fact that helping our clients and making them happy is our driving force.
Do you have any special offers for Business Club members?
During the month of November, the members of Business Club can benefit from a free 15 minute phone call to answer any questions they might have about the French administration.
Why did you decide to become a member of Business Club Côte d’Azur? What do you like most about it?
I was at the very beginning of my entrepreneurial adventure when I discovered Business Club Côte d’Azur. I quickly realised how important it is to be well surrounded when working on your own and Business Club Côte d’Azur was an excellent way to meet people. The members of Business Club Côte d’Azur are passionate about what they do and talented. We are a real community whether it’s to collaborate or to relax over a drink.
Fun facts about Nicolas Coullette!
What is your favourite French wine?
My favourite wine is Sauternes, a syrupy wine harvested in the Gironde region.
What is your favourite spot on the Côte d’Azur?
The Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat hike which encompasses small wild creeks, crystalline water, majestic houses, flowers and so on. It’s so beautiful!
What French word do you find very difficult to pronounce?
Being French myself, I hope that I’m able to pronounce everything correctly! But it was not always the case and as a child, I had to see a speech therapist.
What is your favourite French expression?
“Un sourire coûte moins cher que l’électricité, mais donne autant de lumière” – Abbé Pierre, creator of Emmaüs.
It means “A smile costs less than electricity but gives just as much light.”
